Elite XC Vice President Jared Shaw denied a report by Sherdog which claimed that Elite XC’s Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva would take on PRIDE FC veteran Sergei Kharitonov.
Shaw contacted Sam Caplan to clarify the report. “That fight is not 100 percent not happening." He further indicated to Five Ounces of Pain that a heavyweight fighter has been selected by his promotion to fight against Rogers, but would not specify.
Shaw also took time to clarify reports circulating the internet that a fight between Elite XC heavyweights Brett “The Grim” Rogers and Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson was set for October. “A fight could possibly take place within the next twelve months,” he said to Caplan, citing scheduling concerns.
Finally, he addressed the Nick Diaz – Thomas Denny bout scheduled for the July 26th Elite XC event in Stockton, California. Shaw confirmed that thus far, only two bouts have been chosen to air during the CBS broadcast: Robby Lawler will defend his middleweight title against Scott Smith, and Jake Shields will take on Nick Thompson for the vacant welterweight championship. |
