Spike TV recently announced the thirty-two participants in season eight of their venerable MMA reality series "The Ultimate Figthers". The season will feature 16 Lightweights and 16 Light Heavyweights, with a fight-off to get onto the actual show. Frank Mir and Antonio "Big Nog" Nogueira will be the coaches and the first episode will premiere on SPIKE Sept. 17th at 10 p.m.
Some of the notable Lightweights that made the initial cut into the fight-offs are Efrain Escudero, Brandon Garner, and Shane Nelson. Efrain is a Rage in the Cage mainstay riding a nine fight win streak and remains undefeated in his career. Brandon Garner submitted Jason Dent for his claim to fame and Shane Nelson is a B.J. Penn student on a five fight win streak.
Jason Guida (brother to Clay Guida), Ryan Bader, and Krzysztof Soszynski will all make an appearance on the show as Light Heavyweights. Ryan Bader is an ex-Arizona wrester with an undefeated record. An ex-IFL fighter, Krzysztof (pronounced "Cris-toff"), bounced around between Heavyweight and Light Heayweight but since his move to the lower weight division, he is undefeated. Jason is a bit of a wild card with questionable conditioning but he is crazy like his brother and always brings a fight.
