Mike C. Gains IFL Release

Mike Ciesnolevicz, otherwise known as Mike C. for obvious reasons, has finally been released by the terminal International Fight League, according to MMAWeekly. The Light Heavyweight was a key cog in the success of the IFL as a league during its heyday but has been conspicuously absent as the now defunct promotion foundered.

“I was actually checking my email a few days ago and I got an email release from the IFL; and yesterday I got a letter saying, ‘Thanks for being with the IFL, we’re exercising our right to release you, so you’re free to fight with any organization out there,’” said Ciesnolevicz of how he received his release from the promotion.

Mike C., despite his benching, had nothing but nice things to say about his previous employers. “It didn’t really bother me the way it happened. I was waiting for the day to come. I look back at the IFL now, and I realize it was really important for me in my progression from the smaller shows to the big shows,” he commented. “The IFL was the perfect middle ground. I had tough fights; it made me realize what I needed to change in my game, and was a real eye-opener. I really advanced who I am through the IFL, and I’m thankful for that opportunity. It was a great experience.”

At 205, the Miletich fighter's stock should go at a premium as promotions scramble for any talent at the heavier weight classes. The fighter showed a workman-like proficiency in his IFL career with his only losses coming at the hands of Andre Gusmao and Reese Andy, both UFC veterans now.

“I think I’m doing pretty well and I’m only getting better over this past year, and I’m really ready to make my mark. I want to also say thanks to Fairtex, Sandy Bowman with MFS Canada, and Warrior Wear for standing by me and supporting me over this year.”
