Orange County prosecutors are formally charging Quinton "Rampage" Jackson with felony evasion, reckless driving, and driving against traffic after a series of collisions last month. The DA also announced Monday that he will face misdemeanor hit-and-run plus reckless driving charges. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 25 and the DA will more than likely request $25,000 bail.
Jackson was arrested back on July 15th for leading the police on a chase across orange county in July but was later released to await charges.Quinton subsequently spent time in a Psychiatric ward and was diagnosed with delirium, which can be brought on by dehydration.
Notably absent from the charges were any mention of Holli Griggs, who suffered a miscarriage after being a passenger in a car that was sideswiped by "Rampage". MMAWeekly reports that a subsequent investigation was carried out by the DA and the evidence led them to not implicate Jackson.
“We reviewed all the medical records and spoke with the victim’s physician, and the evidence showed that the loss of the fetus was not related to or a result of the crash caused by the defendant,” Farrah Emami said.
Jackson has since re-emerged at the pre-UFC 87 press conference to announce his capability to fight and train.
“I’m already training, so my next opponent better watch out,” he said. “But that was the worst mistake I ever made, I got Dana over my back all the time. ‘Did you eat? Did you sleep? Drink your water?’ It’s like I’m two years old, but it’s all good,” he continued.
Conviction could lead up to three years in jail for the former UFC Champion. |
