Houston Alexander, the hard-hitting slugger that KO'ed Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara in 2007, has just signed a 5 fight contract extension with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Houston burst onto the scene with the aforementioned high profile KO's but then subsequently lost to Thiago Silva and James Irvin in less than four minutes combined.

Whether he will be around the UFC for the full contract remains to be seen, as past experience has shown with Zuffa and contract cuts. Travis Lutter, Shonie Carter, Kalib Starnes, Tommy Speer, Din Thomas, and Kuniyoshi Hironaka were all recently cut early from their contracts due to issues with their performance.

Houston will have the opportunity to get back on track on Sept. 17th as he is set to take on Eric Schafer at UFC Fight Night 15 in his hometown Omaha, Nebraska.
